To the Washington County Militia,
Greetings of the season! I trust that you all are doing well and geared up for a very merry Christmas. Just a reminder, Christmas at the Carter Mansion is this weekend. Friday and Saturday 6 – 9 pm. Jennifer gave the OK on camping at the Carter Mansion, if anyone is interested. Note – firewood is quite limited at the Carter House at this time.
Scenario for Christmas at the Carter Mansion –
Time Period – December 1780
Outside – Hot Cider, music by the Fifes and Drums, Firing the Christmas Guns
Great Room – Welcome and music. Possibly one Virginia Reel and one reading of the Christmas Story each night.
Parlor – Ladies making pomanders (oranges studded with cloves)
Study – Men talking about the recent victory at Kings Mountain.
Childrens’ Bedchamber – Storytelling and Portrait Sketching
Master Bedchamber – Spinning and Wool Carding
These are not set in stone by any means. This event is designed to be laid back and enjoyable for everyone. However I will need a few volunteers to take turns with me serving the cider.
That’s all for now –
