Major Bogart Speaks: May Seige A Success!

To the Washington County Militia,

Greetings Friends! I begin with a thankful heart, happy and so pleased
with the way everything turned out for the Siege. I apologize for not
writing sooner, but I left directly after the siege for Charleston, SC
for some much needed rest and relaxation. But, as for the event
everything went so well; I could not be more satisfied. You all deserve
a huge pat on the back. It is very gratifying to see everyone come
together and flawlessly put on a great event, not only for the public,
but for the participants as well.

All of our guests seemed to have a great time. All of the sutlers were
well pleased and all expressed and interest in returning. Mr. Bailey
even wants to come back for the September Muster. Thank you all so much
for making everyone feel at home and for being the hospitable and
friendly people you are. Also a big thanks for those who helped serve
and clean up at the dinner on Saturday night, you all were a tremendous
help.

I am happy to report the numbers for the siege. For the Friday school
day we programmed to 180 kids from three different area schools. For the
weekend, we had 175 participants, and per the traffic counter, 3442
visitors. That breaks last years record by 400. For the auction we took
in $1500.00. That also breaks last years record by $300.00.

My deepest appreciation goes out to the entire group. For making our
guests feel welcome, for engaging with the public, for jumping in and
helping in so many ways – THANK YOU! You all never cease to amaze me. I
am a lucky man to be associated with such fine folks.

As always if you have any needs, questions, or concerns please contact
me any time.

Sincerely,

Major Bogart

P.S.
The Siege of the Blockhouse at Natural Tunnel State Park in Duffield, VA
went very well. We had a fair showing from our group and a fine time was
had by all. The folks there at the Blockhouse are a great group of
people and it’s always a pleasure to visit with them. Megan, Bob, Joan
and Chris all wanted me to express their thanks and appreciation to all
that came and helped out.
