MAJOR BOGART and COLONIAL FOREFATHER

Major Bogart and his Colonial forebearer, Col. Andrew Hampton who fought at Kings Mountain ad led the Kings Mountain regiment, died in 1803. He’s buried near Kings Mountain.

  1. That was a very touching moment to finally locate my 7th great grandfather’s the final resting place. To be in period dress when it happed made it even more special. Col. Hampton is one of the lesser known heros of the Battle of Kings Mountain, but like so many of the others he did his part without show or boast to get the job done. I am blessed to be decended from this American Patriot.

    It is good to see so much honor and respect shown to your ancestor. My 5th x GG Thomas Hardeman fought at Kings Mountain in John Seviers group of militia.

    Chad is your Col. Andrew Hampton the same one that was married to Catherine Hyder. If so then your are related to the Hyder’s of Powder Branch as Catherine was Michael Hyder’s sister.

  4. Hi Chad, cousin Bill Hughes here..I too am very proud to be the 6th Great Grandson of Colonel Hampton..Also makes me proud to be American..I located a photo of Col Hampton, it’s on the Adkins family info site..
