I’ve been doing a lot of research lately concerning late 18th to early 19th century clothing and I’ve come to the conclusion I like mid 18th century clothes the best. With that being said, one has to really chuckle when one sees what cartoonists thought of the clothes at the time. I came across some hilarious cartoons, all French, that speak for themselves.

The Invisibles 1810

Fake Calve 1796 : I always knew why men invented long pants!

French Nakedness 1800: Dresses were “ala greek” and so sheer as to reveal all.
