Ray Mears Survival Series : Roger’s Rangers Raid of St. Francis

Raid on the Abenakis

This has nothing to do with the native population here but I promise you will thoroughly enjoy this BBC series. Sit back and enjoy this fascinating  series  as Ray Mears traces Roger’s Rangers’ raid  on the  Abenakis on the St. Francis. It was really quite interesting. Crown Point, where Roger’s got his orders to take 200 men on this raid, is an unbelievable place. The British built a huge stone star fort on an abandoned French fort at the head of Lake Champlain. All but the 12 foot thick stone walls and 10 ft deep tiber earthworks was destroyed in a chimney fire in 1773 and abandoned completely in 1777.

Fort at Crown Point, now on the National Registry
